Prepare

Save the changed object in correct sequence as a Deployment Manager task.

Migrate

Move the Deployment Manager tasks to the target environment. Can be automated if using CI-CD

Backup

Instruct Deployment Manager to create a database backup on the target environment and ensure data integrity.

Execute

Run Deployment Manager to automatically apply all tasks to ensure changes are applied correctly and in order.

How Does Deployment Manager Work?

Deployment Manager uses low-level database access and human-readable artifact features to automate deployment operations. It reads modified objects from the designated directory and executes them in the correct sequence. Deployment Manager can recognize new or modified objects and only deploy those specific ones. Deployment Manager makes these processes much more efficient and less time-consuming than traditional deployment.

Traditional Deployment

Export transport zip files from changed labels committed to the OIM main database.
Create or update document with deployment steps.
Move transport files to target environment
Create database backup on target environment before importing new transport files.
